How to use Block themes
Previously Full Site Editing (FSE)
This site contains the Fuel6 theme which is in active development, please DO NOT make changes to the theme, but instead, duplicate this site and run it locally. You CAN however make changes to the content, such as testing shortcodes.
After the site is installed locally, you can keep it up to date by connecting to the GitHub Repositories.
Notable Changes
- In Fuel5, we downloaded the fonts, and added the CSS font face code to the stylesheet, in Fuel6, we will instead be adding the font through the theme.json file. There are two methods we will explore for official use:
- Method 1 – Automatic: Download fonts using https://gwfh.mranftl.com/fonts (this skips the transfonter step), use Create Block Theme by WordPress to import fonts and update the theme.json file (needs testing).
- Method 2- Manual: Download fonts using https://gwfh.mranftl.com/fonts (this skips the transfonter step), move files into the fonts folder and manually update the theme.json code (more involved)
- You no longer need to set the font family on headers and paragraph tags through styles.css, this can be set through the editor
The goal for Fuel6 is to give us the same visual representation on the backend that you get on the front end, what you see is what you get, this will make it easier for non-devs to manage the sites
The other goal is to reduce development time by reducing file editing, this is done through using Gutenberg default styles and functionality such as image uploads.
